Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What youll do:

• The Director, Tax is responsible for consolidated income tax reporting as well as all aspects of taxation for the Company.
• Manage uncertain tax positions documentation with external consultants, including setting the scope of work needed, providing information requested, and reviewing deliverables.
• Negotiate contracts with software providers, external consultants, and tax shared service companies (subsidiaries and affiliates).
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of changes to tax laws and regulations and provide relevant updates and guidance to management.
• Lead the Companys quarterly and annual SEC tax reporting process, managing the collaboration with the Companys SEC reporting team as well as maintaining excellent relationships with external auditors.
• Partner with outside consultants to advise on global projects, review tax opportunities, develop forecasts, and optimize tax department operations.
• Lead tax compliance processes for federal, state, and local income and indirect taxes.
• Be the technical leader on all tax accounting matters.
• Lead tax due diligence and structuring for mergers and acquisitions.
• Manage federal, state, and local tax audits.
• Maintain knowledge of current and proposed tax laws and analyze their impact on the Company.
• Research technical tax matters and prepare documentation to support tax positions.
• Support strategic tax planning, identify, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Continuously monitor and proactively identify and obtain tax incentives for the company.
• Oversee compliance with internal controls and SOX documentation.
• Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, R&D, and other stakeholders to evaluate business opportunities and global initiatives.
• Champion operational excellence through process improvement and technology transformation.

What you need:

• Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience.
• The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740 for a US-based multi-national corporation.
• Experience with tax accounting and reporting under US GAAP in a multinational context, including accounting for uncertain tax positions and accounting for stock-based compensation.
• Experience with US federal and state corporate tax and sales tax compliance.
• Strong analytical thinking and writing skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to conduct thorough tax research.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational leadership.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in a fast-moving, high-growth environment with the ability to react quickly to unexpected challenges and opportunities.
• Good business sense and ability to generate insightful analysis.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex subject matter to leadership, peers, and other levels in the company without a tax background.
• Extremely well organized and able to manage work requirements to meet reporting deadlines.

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Companys business strategy. For this position, we are targeting a base pay between $180,000 - $225,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
