Job Description Description of the Company: CBNA, a Bouygues Construction Company, is looking for a Environmental Engineer to join the Potomac River Tunnel Project in Washington, DC. At CBNA, we have been delivering large-scale projects such as the groundbreaking Port of Miami Tunnel and Pawtucket Tunnel CSO in Rhode Island. Our expertise extends throughout underground works, river and maritime works, linear projects, signature bridges and industrial civil engineering. The Potomac River Tunnel project is a landmark initiative under the Clean Rivers Project. The project aims to construct a nearly 5.5 miles tunnel beneath the Potomac River with 2 different TBM, serving as a critical infrastructure element to control combined sewer overflows. This will significantly enhance the water quality of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers and Rock Creek while bolstering the sewer system’s capacity. Job Summary: The Environmental Engineer will be responsible to establish, implement, and maintain the Design-Builder’s Environmental Management System to Contract and regulatory requirements for the Potomac River Tunnel Project in Washington DC. This role requires knowledge in managing environmental impacts typical of civil work construction projects and the related environmental regulations. You will be reporting to the Quality, Environment and Risk Manager Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance: ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws, including EPA’s CSO Control Policy, Clean Water Act, Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, and DC environmental regulations . Review environmental aspects of permit applications by the JV. Review Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans and amendments. Planned Arrangements : prepare and maintain the Environmental Management Plan, Environmental Protection Plan, Hazardous Waste Management Plan, Solid and Waste Construction Waste Management Plan, Soil Management Plan, Water Treatment Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plan for Contaminated Water, Contaminated Material, Restricted-Use Material, Clean Fill, and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan. Prepare or review the Asbestos Removal Plan. Support the Construction Teams in identifying and assessing environmental risks and impacts, and in developing appropriate mitigation and best management practices. Training : Develop and conduct environmental training for project teams and subcontractors to inform and reinforce compliance with the planned arrangements. Monitoring: perform or supervise daily and weekly checks that environmental controls are being properly implemented per the permits and planned arrangements. Respond and support construction teams if environmental impacts occur such as spills or if potential contaminated soil or groundwater is encountered. Perform field sampling, arrange testing, and review test reports. Prepare applications for use or disposal of soil, spoil, water, and waste. Reporting: ensure environmental controls, checks, issues, and incidents are documented. Provide the environmental reports, notifications, and certifications required by the Contract, Permits and Planned Arrangements, and review supporting documentation such as tickets, manifests, test reports. Communication: conduct environmental meetings with the Owner and represent the JV in meetings with the Owner, Authorities, and community involving the environment, particularly if incidents or complaints arise. Coordinate related tasks with stakeholders. Respond or support response to any environmental violation, citation, or enforcement notice received by the Design-Builder. Sustainability : collect and report project sustainability data required by the JV and support initiatives to reduce the project’s carbon emissions and optimize recovery. Obtain project certification to a recognized sustainability program. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field. Minimum three years’ experience in civil works construction in environmental related role Knowledge of CSO mitigation strategies, NPDES permitting, and water quality regulations Strong analytical, problem-solving Excellent verbal and written communication skills Digitally literate in commonly used software Ideally holding the following certifications HAZWOPER 40 hour qualified EPA GPA SWPPP inspection qualified Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification OSHA Environmental Certification Wetland and Stormwater Management Training ***NO STAFFING AGENCY CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION*** #J-18808-Ljbffr ZipRecruiter
